Comparative Astrology
Comparative astrology compares the relationship between two (sometimes more than two) horoscopes, usually those of people, but in theory any two charts that mark the beginning of any kind of process can be compared to each other.
Comparative astrology is not restricted to comparing the natal charts of people involved in intimate relationships. The comparison of any two charts - such as those of parents and children, work colleagues or employers and their superiors - can help to throw light on the underlying dynamics of a relationship.
A comparison of different natal charts can reveal a great deal about the character of a relationship: its potentials, possibilities and dangers.
Comparative astrology, when not simply looking separately at the charts in question, generally makes use of one of three methods:
- Synastry, which lays one horoscope around the other.
- Composite, which focuses on the midpoints between the two charts.
- Davison Relationship Chart, which calculates a chart based on the mean values of the birth locations and birth dates.
