Diurnal Hemisphere

In a standard chart drawing the hemisphere of the horoscope which lies above the Ascendant/Descendant axis. The other hemisphere below this axis is called the nocturnal hemisphere. The diurnal hemisphere runs from the seventh to the twelfth house or, in other words, the third and fourth quadrants. The Medium Coeli is its central point. The diurnal hemisphere - also known as the public hemisphere - has an expansive and extroverted quality and is also the "conscious half" of the horoscope. Signs and planets in this hemisphere indicate the kind of social activities and interests of the horoscope owner.


The Ascendant/Descendant axis divides the horoscope into a diurnal and nocturnal hemisphere.
