The mathematical mean between two planets or any other horoscope factors. The following example of the midpoint between Venus and Saturn illustrates the notation used: A25_087.gif / A26_087.gif = 5 degrees Gemini. Every pair of horoscope factors has two midpoints: a so-called near midpoint directly between the factors involved and a far midpoint situated 180 degrees opposite. The former is considered to be the main one.

A midpoint marks the focal point at which the energies of two planets meet. If a third planet is conjunct this point it receives these energies and to a certain degree acts as a channel for them (as, for example, in the case of the aspect figure T-Square in which a planet forms a square aspect to two other planets in opposition.

Transits to the midpoint and any other triggers also activate the energies involved. And finally, midpoints are also an important factor when comparing horoscopes (Comparative Astrology). The Composite Chart shows the midpoints of the same two planets in two separate natal charts.
