Star Sign

1) Common term used for the sign of the zodiac which the Sun was in at the time of an individual's birth. Almost all interpretation in Populist astrology is based solely on a person's so-called star sign.

2) Synonym for sign of the zodiac. The latter however remains the correct term, whereas the term star sign blurs the distinction between zodiac sign and star constellation. Originally, the star constellations were equivalent to star signs.
